PROGRAM
The program is based on cultural and musical exchange between different European jazz styles. Participants will have the opportunity to join masterclasses of jazz styles from France, Spain, and Central Europe, from esteemed teachers across the continent. 14 teachers will teach, give masterclasses including individual (private) classes, and lead instrument group rehearsals, ensemble and big band rehearsals, while some other instruments will be presented by invited artists. And of course late evening jam sessions will also take place every day at Babel Camp, at the beautiful lake Balaton, in Hungary.
We invite jazz students and professional artists from all Europe to join and participate, to immerse themselves in a variety of European jazz styles and techniques!
Program structure
The first half of the day, between 9:30 and 13:30 each participant will have individual classes with teachers of their instrument. The afternoon session is about instrument group workshops and ensemble rehearsals, where a mixture of European participants will be selected by the teachers to form bands, which will perform their created music on the last day of the residency. A big band will be formed during the 2 first days, which will have a big band rehearsal in the following 4 days and present a concert on the last evening. The evening time is for an open jam session until midnight.
